GALACTO-OLIGOSACCHARIDE



PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

GALACTO-OLIGOSACCHARIDE, also known as oligogalactosyllactose, oligogalactose, oligolactose or transgalactooligosaccharides (TOS), belong to the group of Prebiotics. Prebiotics are defined as non-digestible Food Ingredients that beneficially affect the host by stimulating the growth and/or activity of beneficial bacteria in the colon. GOS occurs in commercially available products such as food for both infants and adults.



With lactose as raw material β- Galactosidase catalyzes the hydrolysis of galactoside bond, which hydrolyzes lactose into galactose and glucose,at the same time, through the transfer of galactoside, the hydrolyzed galactoside is transferred to lactose molecules to form galactooligosaccharides.


GALACTO-OLIGOSACCHARIDE are hygroscopic. The sweetness is 30-40% of sucrose, and the sweetness is soft and pure. Under the same sugar content (75 Brix), the viscosity of GOS is slightly higher than that of sucrose. It has good heating colourability and storage stability. The GOS are relatively stable under high temperature and acid conditions.

FUNCTIONS

Because of the configuration of their glycosidic bonds, galactooligosaccharides largely resist hydrolysis by salivary and intestinal digestive enzymes. Galactooligosaccharides are classified as prebiotics, defined as non-digestible food ingredients as substrate for the host by stimulating the growth and activity of bacteria in the colon.
The increased activity of colonic bacteria results in various effects, both directly by the bacteria themselves or indirectly by producing short-chain fatty acids as byproducts via fermentation. The effects are stimulation of immune functions, absorption of essential nutrients, and synthesis of certain vitamins.


- Promote the reproduction of bifidobactirium and inhibit the breeding of pathogenic bacteria;

- Improve the function of intestine,enhance immunity and resist disease;

- Lower blood glucose and reduce blood cholesterol,and is a preferred food in patients with diabetes;

- Reduce the occurrence of oral ulceration;

- Resistant against tooth decay;

- Promote the absorption of minerals.
