Resistant dextrin is an indigestible glucose polysaccharide (rich in α-1,2 or α-1,3 linkages) that is formed when starch is heated and treated with enzymes, and is made of wheat or maize starch. RD acts as a fermentation substrate in the colon. It has been classified as FOSHU (foods for special health uses) in Japan or GRAS (generally recognized as safe) by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States.
Resistant Destrin is a white to light yellow powder, and it is a kind of water-soluble dietary fiber that is made of non-genetically modified natural corn starch as a raw material, after a certain degree of hydrolysis, polymerization, separation and other steps. Its low calorie content, good solubility, and slight sweetness and odor, remain stable under conditions of high temperature, variable pH, moist environment, and high cutting force.
